Mississippi native Keisa Brown performed as a backing vocalist with performers like Tom Jones, Lola Folana, Gladys Knight, Neil Diamond, Lou Rawls, and Boyz II Men. As a recording artist, she worked with Frederick Knight throughout the '80s and '90s, at one time signed to his Park Place label. Her self-titled, mid-'80s debut was produced and penned mostly by Knight; a live album, Keisa Brown...Live followed. 1999 saw the release of The Keisa Brown Collection on Malaco Records.
