Artist Biography by

American soprano Kayleen Sánchez has pursued an active career as a performer, recording artist, educator, and researcher in the fields of art song, opera, jazz, and musical theater. Sánchez earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at the Eastman School of Music, where she concentrated on vocal performance and literature. She has appeared with the Haymarket Opera Company, the Newberry Consort, and the St. Charles Singers, and she has given solo recitals across the United States. Sánchez is a co-founder with lutenist Laudon Schuett of the early music duo Bedlam, exploring period performance practices and languages. She has also premiered contemporary works by Jacob Bancks, George Morey, and Shawn Okpebholo. Sánchez has taught at Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, Baylor University, and McLennan Community College, and she is a faculty member at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. She has also given clinics at the SING! Workshop in St. Charles, Illinois, and worked as a coach with accompanists at the Dakota Sky International Piano Festival. Sánchez has recorded on the Soundset label.
