KaZaZZ Records recording artist Karlow the Great blurs the traditional lines drawn between soul, rap, R&B, and rock. As a result, he sounded quite unlike any popular artist in late 2001 when KaZaZZ released Attitude Adjustment, his debut album. Karlow incorporates much of his "greatness" into his lyrics, which address "the Game," "the Times," and "the Life" (to quote his album). Attitude Adjustment includes three separate sections, each a group of songs grouped under one of these themes. Unlike most popular urban artists who mostly emphasize "the game," Karlow isn't afraid to sing and rap about the sometimes harsh realities of life and the proper perspective necessary to cope with these realities. As his debut proved, Karlow is ambitious, particularly for an entertainer. In fact, he takes such initiative with his music that KaZaZZ went so far as to market his music as "neo-hip-hop," an all-inclusive term symbolizing Karlow's broad scope and limitless approach to music making.
