b. Nicholas Febland, 6 October 1960, London, England. This keyboard player and ex-orchestral trumpeter began composing in the ‘new age’ vein when a student at London’s Royal Academy of Music. He continued to do so on becoming a full-time teacher. He has since emerged as one of the genre’s leading lights, over many instrumental albums that have charted the evolution of an unpredictably exotic style. Nicholas Land Plays The Classics was a change of style as an affectionate amble down ‘memory lane’. From 1984, much of his output has been produced, arranged and co-written by Clifford White, a former pupil. Released on the Audio Art label, 1991’s ground-breaking Beyond The Sky, a work in 10 movements, was, arguably, Land’s strongest offering with respectable sales.
