A professor of clarinet at the University of Minnesota, John Anderson is a champion of contemporary music. He is a member of the Barton Workshop, which has extensively performed and recorded the works of composers such as John Cage, Morton Feldman and Christian Wolff. Anderson has sought out much new material for clarinet, inspiring composers to write specifically for him and, in the manner of Cage, utilizing all manner of devices including electronics, tape effects and narration. On his own and in various ensembles, Anderson has performed througout the United States and Europe.
