Isotonik Biography

by AllMusic

UK-based Isotonik is essentially Chris Paul, helped out by DJ Hype and Grooverider. He is also an efficient multi-instrument musician, especially adept at keyboards and saxophone. As well as working widely as a session musician he has DJed at venues like Camden Palace, and ran the Orange Club in North London. His first record came out in 1986 - ‘Expansions ‘86’. However, there was a long gap before his next major success with ‘Different Strokes’, on ffrr Records in 1992, which sampled the Ten City song of the same name. This had been picked up following release on his own label, again titled Orange Records, in 1991. It was succeeded by an eponymous EP the following year.
