With his two brothers, Eble and Peire and their cousin Elias, Gui was a troubadour and seigneur in Ussel-sur-Sarzonne. Gui was the composer of songs while Elias composed tensos and Eble "mula tensos". Peire descanted all of the compositions. Their music appears to have been monophonic for the most part as there was no reference to polyphony. None of the melodies of their compositions have survived with the exception of Gui's: cahnsons, pastrourelles, tensos, coblas. Four chansons were through-composed and two of the chansons repeat one of the lines of music. The poetic styles were not metrically balanced; however, the melodis were quite simple.
