Raised in a small South Carolina town, country singer/songwriter Greta Lee credits catching a Merle Haggard performance early on as inspiration to pursue a career in music. In the summer of 1998, Lee released her self-issued debut album, This Ain't Over Yet (backed by a supporting cast including guitarist Jon Byrd), which garnered favorable reviews in such publications as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Savannah Morning News. Lee and her band then toured the southeast thoroughly, performing at such renowned venues as the Bluebird, Ernest Tubb Record Shop, the Sutler, 12th & Porter, and the Exit/In. In November of 2000, the Greta Lee Band performed at the first Americana Music Conference and Lee also issued a four-song EP.
