Artist Biography by

Formed in Derby, Derbyshire, England, in the mid-90s, experimental hard rock band Gorilla was formed when the Beyond’s two albums failed to achieve either strong critical support or healthy sales. John Whitby (vocals), Andy Gatford (guitar), Jim Kersey (bass) and Neil Cooper (drums) added violinist Andy Lingard to complete the new line-up, making their debut in May 1995 with a four-track EP, Extended Play, on Embryo Records. A raw self-production, it saw the group receive excellent reviews, although it also marked the departure of Kersey, who had tired of living on the breadline in a fringe rock band.
