Singer George Hall was a member of the Oleander Quartet, a vocal quartet best known for collaborating with country blues legend Leadbelly. The singers combined forces with the former jailbird on several occasions for radio broadcasts that were originally captured on acetate; the large group of recordings were released by Ace and eventually reissued as part of a superb set entitled Where Did You Sleep Last Night: Lead Belly Legacy.
