For.mat was a one-off project for brothers Lincoln and Russell Fong that yielded 1994's Media Circus, and nothing else. Unlike the brothers' previous collaboration with the more pop-based Polar/Polar Aim (or their joint involvements with Moose), For.mat was an outlet to jump into their love of sampling and informal instrumental interplay, sounding like a less cultured, mid-'90s version of Brian Eno and David Byrne's collaboration on My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. If you're familiar with Russell's engineering work with AR Kane, Lush, Cocteau Twins, and (more specifically) M/A/R/R/S, Media Circus shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
