Chilean Fernando Ubiergo has been mostly recognized for writing and singing nostalgic tunes based on his melancholic memories about personal experiences. While a student at a local university in Santiago de Chile, Ubiergo participated in a music contest called Festival de la Primavera (Spring Festival), coming in first place with his song "Un Café Para Platon," which was later released as a single. At the age of 23, Fernando Ubiergo had his major achievement after winning Viña del Mar's Festival in 1978 with his song "El Tiempo en las Bastillas." That event moved him later to represent Chile at the OTI and Benidorm's Festival, getting two important victories and recognition throughout Latin America. After recording a live album in 1992, Ubiergo went into an introspective period coming back in the year 2000 with Los Ojos del Mar.
