Fencing David was a melodic, sometimes introspective alternative rock band that was active around northeastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire in the 1990s and early 2000. Consisting of singer Rob Arsenault, guitarist Charlie Chronopoulos, bassist Ian Schaeffer, and drummer Avo Jeknavorian, Fencing David had done their share of New England club gigs by the time they released their debut album, Lana, on their own X-Es label in 1999. The foursome never recorded a second album; in April 2000, Fencing David broke up and cited "musical differences" as the reason. Not long after Fencing David's demise, Chronopoulos joined a local band called Citizen, while Arsenault, Schaeffer, and Jeknavorian formed the band Simple with guitarist Chris Leto.
