Galway-born concertina player Charlie Coen joined with younger brother Jack to record an influential album of traditional Irish melodies, The Branch Line, in 1976. Playing the tin whistle from the age of eight, Coen won seven All-Ireland awards, including medals in concertina, flute and whistle playing, and singing in the English and Irish languages. A resident of the United States since 1954, Coen entered the priesthood in 1968.
