Make it "Dave" rather than "David," "Allan" rather than "Allen"; the "Ace" nickname that two Southern musicians shared still causes plenty of confusion. Getting both of the Dave "Ace" Allan creatures together might make for an interesting rhythm section. This one played bass for B.B. King during one of that blues great's best periods, the '60s and '70s. Allan's appearances on record include the well-loved Lucille opus. In the '90s, a different David "Ace" Allen began playing drums with the Marshall Tucker Band. That Southern rocker from South Carolina is not the same as the blues bassist from Mississippi.
