Italian progressive rock band Aton's was formed in 1977 by Pietro Ratto. Putting together a prog rock outfit during the heyday of punk could certainly be called a bold move. The group kept pursuing their blend of music, developing quite a following in their homeland. In 1985, they produced a full rock opera, entitled H. The opera was an hour long and included both audio and video versions. The band's first real album, A.I. 2984, was released in 1988. Three years later, the group released Caccia Grossa. Their next album, Dr. Faust, was released with a new drummer, their original percussion man having left shortly after the release of Caccia Grossa. In 1996, the group recorded Klein & Wagner. After this album was released, the group had another change of drummers. Their next release was Ombre di Musica, a live album, and 2000 saw Capolinea.
