Crossover jazz guitarist Askold Buk has long been known among guitar students as the author of The Advanced Guitar Case Chord Book and Practical Pentatonics, as well as being a contributor for Guitar World and Guitar School. He has also been involved with New York rock-oriented bands Sweatbox and Surround and done session work with jazz trumpeter Hugh Masakela, worldbeat group Bature (appearing alongside Wayne Shorter and Alex Acuna), and blues legend Johnnie Johnson. In the late '90s, Buk developed and was the creative director for a series of highly acclaimed instructional guitar videos, interviewing and accompanying artists such as B.B. King, John Scofield, Jack Bruce, Albert Lee, Steve Morse, and Hank Marvin. In late 2000, Buk released his self-titled debut, with his clean, blues-influenced guitar work backed up by bassist Gene Eames and drummer Courtney Williams.
