ZERO GRAVITY was released in America following this Finnish surf band's INSTRUMENTS OF TERROR debut in 1993. These recordings predate that album and are drawn from Laika and The Cosmonauts' two early homeland releases, C'MON DO THE LAIKA! and SURFS YOU RIGHT.
Following in a model like that of The Ventures, the band plays a range of covers and originals that all feature crisp guitar melodies over spirited rhythmic foundations. Their version of "Night in Tunisia" makes clear how durable the Dizzy Gillespie composition really is. Laika and The Cosmonauts communicate in the international language of surf music, and its clear from ZERO GRAVITY that their knowledge and love for this music runs deep.
