Poppy and pleasing, River City High's Won't Turn Down starts off fun and catchy and never really lets up the whole length of 12 songs. Unlike many of the trendy indie pop bands of the scene, River City High seems to be one of the few acts to have a good understanding of what it takes to skirt the line between hip and inviting. With great guitar licks and smoky, friendly vocals, each song seems to take the traditional bag of music tricks, exploit it, and then expand upon it. Even lyrics with potentially horrendous cheesy lyrics like "Just Wonderin'" come out well. Truly a unique record, River City High seems to be one of the only indie pop bands that comes to mind which isn't annoying, conceited, or out to just stroke their ego through their albums.
