Wingy Manone's next-to-last recording session finds the 62-year-old trumpeter/vocalist still in prime form. Teamed up with trombonist Papa Bue's Viking Jazzband (an excellent Danish Dixieland group), Manone sounds happy to be in such sympathetic company. He plays three of his blues and a variety of veteran standards, including "When You're Smiling," "How Come You Do Me Like You Do" and "Black & Blue." This is an enjoyable effort from the formerly popular entertainer, and it seems strange that he would not record again for another nine years.
