AllMusic Review by

A treat of songs arranged and produced by the talented Clive Romney, When I Am Baptized is a jazzed-up version of traditional LSD Children's songs which support the 2000 Primary theme. While most of the arrangements, although beautiful, stick to the expected hymn-like styles, there are a few which are surprisingly and delightfully modified in feel by their accompaniment. For example, "Our Bishop," which in other cases can seem rather sing-song, takes on an almost country flavor; one can almost envision the song's subject loping around on a horse. Some may not like this whimsy, but it is fun, and, since it is a children's song, it works fantastically! "Follow the Prophet," as written by Duane E. Hiatt, has a somewhat Middle Eastern feel caused by its rhythm and minor key structure. Romney arranged it to accentuate that fact, and makes this fun song particularly enjoyable. Overall this is a great collection and companion to the CD I Will Make and Keep My Baptismal Covenant.
