This holiday CD single is a great addition for the holidays. Highly recommended if you have a sense of humor, a taste for the exotic, and a go-go dancer fetish. The Wonderful World of Joey is a marriage of lounge crooner and pop/rock aesthetics. The set lists at the band's live shows include straight-up covers and exotica takes on rock & roll (Cream, etc.) The two tracks here are standards of sorts:
"What Sweet Child O'Mine Is This?" is a fusion of "Greensleeves" and the Guns 'n' Roses classic "Sweet Child O'Mine." And Henry Mancini's "Days of Wine and Roses" is like sangria flavored with a theramin peel. If the Asphodel label means anything to you, then you know what kind of music this is: experimental and awesome.
