The third in a series of teaser releases for his highly anticipated second album, Waltz for Your Eyes is a fine return to form for Vladislav Delay's house alter ego. Returning after his highly debatable 2-step emulation on the Mille Plateaux Clicks & Cuts, Vol. 3 compilation ("Melt"), Luomo has made a tender love poem unquestionably inspired by the love of his life, Antye Greie-Fuchs (aka AGF from laptop super duo Laub). Waltz also incorporates more live instrumentation, which is only a positive sign as it shows Luomo stepping into new territories while staying steadfast to the traditional elements that made his earlier works accessibly catchy. With its glistening Fender Rhodes, amazing acoustic guitar chord progressions, and a dance beat that alternates between traditional waltz time signatures and common time topped off with a vocal that's highly processed digitally (but no less stunning), this could easily contend for the European pop charts if it weren't for its relative obscurity (it has been pressed as a highly limited edition). A positive sign of good things to come, hopefully in the form of a second full-length sometime in the immediate future.
