Along with Spirit of the West and Great Big Sea, Uisce Beatha were one of the groups at the forefront of the Canadian Celtic resurrection. Where the other two groups approached the style with a little more sense of tradition, they often sound like a bunch of punk kids playing Celtic (and pretty well, too). In other words, it's more often upbeat than not, energetic, and not really a stickler for the nuances (the vocals are often a bit on the bland side, which doesn't really suit drinking songs, y'know?). The sound would work a lot better later on, when the band became more obviously pop and changed its name to Red. Still, this is fun.
