Originally released as an artists-edition cassette in an incredibly limited edition, this CD reissues this 1996 work from David Jackman, better known for his work as leader of post-industrial ensemble Organum. As a member of the experimental Scratch Orchestra, he began working in the late-'60s London avant-garde scene and, throughout the '80s, defined a drone-improvisation aesthetic both as a solo artist and in the stunning ensemble Organum. This piece samples the distant string drones of an orchestra appearing in varied tape alterations, with grating instrumental textures overlaid by an ensemble of improvisers. Moving away from the heavy tonal drones of Sphyx and Desola, this release displays a more abstracted sound study where conceptual motivations are favored over musicality. Released in a limited edition of 700 copies in 2001.
