This obscure LP is a bit of an oddity in Billy Taylor's discography; it is no more than a very brief (24 minutes) compilation of two earlier recordings he made for Capitol. Joined by drummer Grady Tate and bassist Ben Tucker, Taylor takes very quick forays into a mix of originals ("It's a Grand Night for Swinging" and "You Tempt Me"), standards ("I Believe in You" and "Love For Sale"), as well as several songs written by Teddi Castion. On several tracks, an orchestra arranged and conducted by Oliver Nelson is added. All of the individual performances run less than four minutes apiece; they are enjoyable though not essential. This long unavailable record will only be of interest if located at a bargain price.
