AllMusic Review by

The music on this collector's Lp, most of which was originally released on Verve, features the last version of Lu Watters' Yerba Buena Jazz Band before the trumpeter decided to retire. The sound of Watters' group had changed a little since the earlier days since he was no longer using two trumpets and banjoist Clancy Hayes was being featured on vocals, but one can definitely recognize the style of the influential Yerba Beuena Jazz Band. In addition to Watters and Hayes, the main stars are clarinetist Bob Helm, pianist Wally Rose and either Warren Smith or Don Noakes on trombone but it is the ensemble sound and Hayes' vocals (the latter is heard at his best on a classic rendition of "Frankie And Johnny") that are most notable.
