This 16-song compilation of performances spans a wide variety of romantic love songs. The material largely spans the '70s and '80s, with a few small stops in the '90s along the way. There's a little bit in here for everyone, regardless of taste: the sultry and soulful delivery of Al Green, Billy Paul, Minnie Riperton, and quiet storm maestro Freddie Jackson carefully offset uptempo numbers from the Emotions and Culture Club. These artists in turn balance out the country-tinged ballads from Kenny Rogers and folk crooner Jim Croce. So while it might run a bit erratic when played start to finish, every song on here is a hit and worth picking up, even if it's to fill gaps in your collection or to have all of the hits on one disc.
