Flute and recorder player and composer Douglas Spotted Eagle has translated into music a broad array of emotions, reflections and sensations on The Ultimate Collection. Mixed variously with bass guitar, guitar, percussion and synthesizer, Spotted Eagle's Native American sound varies little from some traditional music and does so only where personal experience has influenced his music. For instance, the recorder on "The Traveler" ranges in sound from weeping to cries in a bluesy fashion because it is a story of Spotted Eagle's children being taken from him in the middle of the night. The personal touch culminates with the vocal piece "Daddy's Arms." Recorded live, it is the first-ever recorded vocal for Spotted Eagle.
