AllMusic Review by

This disc, the fourth of five in the anthology, features early sound recordings collected from wax cylinders, radio broadcasts, and early phonographic recordings collected by George Creegan. Included on this album: five performances by Henry Irving in various Shakespeare plays, a number of interesting Ellen Terry interpretations, and, strangely, a phone conversation recorded during the first World War. Traditions of Acting is an invaluable resource for researchers interested in theatre and performance history.
