A decent compilation of original and traditional folk songs that allow the listener to see their influence on Bob Dylan's early balladry. Some of the songs, however, are very brief, and almost come off as hurried demo versions, in which the guitars seem to be pushing the vocals. The tracks are also not as rambunctious and high-spirited as some of their other work. The album concludes with a series of songs of children singing, which are cute, but not really necessary on this album.
