AllMusic Review by

Yet another best-of from the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, who, considering they've been around, in various forms, since 1898, have put out their fair share from their wealth of material, Todo Exitos draws from the very latter part of the band's career, so anyone wanting to hear "Camino Real de Colima," "Cielito Lindo," or "Que Bonito Es Mi Tierra" should look elsewhere. Instead, the album draws mostly from two newer albums, 1996's Valses Mexicanos and 2002's Honor y Gloria (in fact, Todo Exitos seems to be a near reworking of Honor y Gloria), so for anyone who already owns those, this one will be a waste of time. And for a listener new to the work of the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, a compilation with more of the standards (RCA International's Coleccion Original for example) would be more helpful, leaving Todo Exitos good just for those who want to only hear a very small, more contemporary selection of the group's repertoire.
