Grant Geissman is an obviously talented musician with a sound of his own, particularly on acoustic guitar. But why on this CD is he content to play new age ballads and "happy jazz" originals that are much better suited as TV theme songs than as vehicles of serious improvisations? Despite the pretty trappings and some moments of passion (usually on the Spanish-tinged pieces), Geissman's Bluemoon release is best heard as background music.
