Three Feet from the Moon is another confusing and compelling adventure in Tim Story's early discography. He recorded these compositions in 1983 and 1984. The album's first release was on LP and cassette on Uniton, a Norwegian label. In 1987, Teichiku Records, a Japanese label, released it on CD. Ten Years later, Archie Patterson, of Eurock, rescued it from oblivion. Story added two solo piano pieces for the reissue. This is, quite simply, a great CD. The melancholy atmospheres have very little angst in them. Instead, Story's mix of acoustic and electronic sounds gives them hope and glimpses of light. He uses a melody instead of a drone to hold the soundscapes together. This pleasant ambient adventure will appeal to fans of Kevin Keller, Darshan Ambient, Ashera, and Thomas Ronkin.
