AllMusic Review by

This Is the Best of Chillout is a slightly imposing six-disc box of all things slow and mostly sleepy (slow tempos, burbling electronics, barely awake vocals), with a lot of the usual suspects you'd expect, along with some nice surprises. The beat-less mix of Sabres of Paradise's "Smokebelch," Fatboy Slim's "The Weekend Starts Here," Laurent Garnier's "The Man With the Red Face," Moby's "Why Does My Heart," and Rae & Christian's "Get a Life" are featured, as are a few unexpected inclusions that nonetheless fit into the scheme (Augustus Pablo's mix of the Boo Radleys' "Lazarus," As One's "Meridian," etc.). As with nearly all of the chillout-themed compilations, there's some good material surrounded by a bunch of fluff. And at six discs, this might give you all you could ever possibly need. Might as well get it over with, right?
