Don Downing had several hit singles during the disco era, but they never crossed over into the mainstream -- they remained underground club hits, and that's the reason why there wasn't a collection of his material until 1998, when Collectables released The Very Best of Don Downing: Dream World. All of Downing's hits, most notably "Dream World," "Dr. Boogie," "Lonely Days, Lonely Nights," and "Love Doctor" are included on this eight-track collection, many in their original 12" format. "Dream World" is a forgotten gem, but the rest of the collection is fairly standard disco -- the kind of music that will interest cultists and collectors, but will be of little interest to anyone with just a passing interest in the genre.
