This should be a valuable LP, for Andy Kirk's Twelve Clouds of Joy did not make any commercial recordings during 1944 due to the Musician Union's recording strike. However, the radio transcriptions are quite brief, and there is only a total of 27 minutes of music on the LP. In addition, the chatty Dave Dexter liner notes do not bother identifying the soloists (which may include trumpeter Howard McGhee and Jimmy Forrest on tenor). June Richmond takes two vocals, and there is a certain amount of spirit on the nine performances, but nothing all that unusual occurs, and the extremely brief playing time makes this a passable item despite its historic value.
