AllMusic Review by

Numbered directly ahead of Vee Jay's release of Songs, Pictures & Stories of the Fabulous Beatles, The Ska was more impressive an album (and much, much rarer), as an example of Vee Jay Records' genius for grabbing onto a new sound. The music is sort of generic as such material goes, some of which is adapted from contemporary pop material like Henry Mancini's "Charade," from the movie of that name, but that's forgivable for what might well be the first Ska album ever issued in the United States.
