The Shindigs have a couple of things going for them: for one, the snotty female vocals resemble a young Kim Shattuck before she learned how to scream. Then there's the easy to relate to "Boyfriend Song," aptly titled for it's lyrical content of losing a friend when he or she spends all of their time with a significant other. Layered with melodic guitars and an all-around rock & roll feel, the Shindigs may not stand out among all the other bands who try to mimic late-'70s New York punk appeal, but they at least hold their own when it comes to packaging a bratty, finger-in-the-air attitude.
