Released three months before his debut album, The Love Uncompromised marked Jason Castro’s first release for Atlantic Records. Like the album that followed, it’s a concise, tuneful collection of folk-pop songs, most of which are steered by Castro's vocals and acoustic guitar. Serena Ryder lends her voice to “You Can Always Come Home,” one of the EP’s only songs not to reappear on the full-length album, and Castro scales things back even further for an acoustic rendition of “Let’s Just Fall in Love Again,” his first single. Although this EP didn’t make much of a dent in the pop charts, it did reintroduce the world to Jason Castro, who’d largely dropped out of view after his time on American Idol. It also set the stage for his self-titled album, which arrived later that spring and cracked the Top 20.
