The Lion's Share Review

by Eduardo Rivadavia

The original Vardis best-of collection, The Lion's Share, seemed a bit premature upon release, but 1983 ultimately proved to be an effective cut-off date for this hard-working boogie metal trio, whose career quickly spiraled into oblivion thereafter. Collecting 12 highlights -- fan favorites "Let's Go," "If I Were King," and "Boogie Blitz" among them -- taken from the band's first three, very solid LPs, it would still constitute the ideal starting point for this now-obscure New Wave of British Heavy Metal group had it not gone largely out of print and later been supplanted by the more complete Sanctuary anthology in the year 2000.
