AllMusic Review by Mike DaRonco

It's not a good first impression when a record sounds better at 45 rpm than its intended 33 rpm, but with a band like Mathlete -- who sound like Ween on helium without guitars -- the difficulties on "The Household Frequencies" are understandable. But it's still fun with their high, distorted vocals and quirky '80s synthesizers. What's even better is that Mathlete don't attempt to obtain that indier-than-thou credibility by playing on broken down Casio keyboards. They're a breath of fresh air who don't take themselves too seriously.
