AllMusic Review by

Perhaps the most dynamic of arranger John Gregory's Latin-inspired Chaquito LPs, The Great Chaquito Revolution is buoyed by an exemplary session unit featuring trumpeters Ray Davies and Kenny Baker alongside trombonist Don Lusher. Although the Chaquito concept followed on the commercial success of Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Alpert never made a record as bold or funky as this. From flower-power fare like "Aquarius" to spaghetti Western themes like "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," Gregory's arrangements are daring and inspired, complete with furious bursts of brass and relentlessly energetic rhythms.
