AllMusic Review by

Identical to the 1996 Polydor release The Best of Peaches & Herb (issued in the U.S.), The Essential Peaches & Herb (released by the the U.K.'s Universal-affiliated Spectrum in 2000) features the same packaging and the same selection of songs. It covers the duo's Polydor albums: 2 Hot! (1978), Twice the Fire (1979), Worth the Wait (1980), and Sayin' Something! (1981). Its contains everything a casual fan could want from this era of the duo, including all of the charting singles, such as "Shake Your Groove Thing," "Reunited," and "Funtime." There's a fair amount of fluff, but none of the major material is missing.
