With well over a dozen albums in their discography (many of them uneven), The Essential Chris & Cosey Collection was all too necessary when it was released in 2002. And since one disc would've been a bit limiting, and would've left some of the duo's best moments out in the cold, Conspiracy International smartly opened it up to a two-disc overview. If there was such a thing as industrial pop, Chris & Cosey were one of the style's leaders for the first few years of their existence. Evidence of the enduring effect they've had can be seen in dozens of later groups who have turned many of the qualities they carried into clichés. This works both as an introduction, and as a way for longtime fans who have all the albums on vinyl, to re-familiarize themselves with this duo.
