AllMusic Review by

This curious K-Tel release wants very badly to tap into the nostalgia that keeps sales of '80s compilations brisk. However, of its 30 tracks, only a few made any kind of dent in the American pop charts of the era. Total Coelo's wacky "I Eat Cannibals" was a brief smash in the U.K., but didn't even crack the Top 50 domestically. The release even refers to the group as "Toto Coelo," its original name that was only changed in the U.S. due to flak from the rock group Toto. There are three songs from British crooner Alvin Stardust, some weak singles from 1970s holdovers Odyssey, and a few appearances by the British combo Linx. Animotion's "Obsession" is the only included track that sparked any U.S. interest, and even it -- like most of this set -- appears as a re-recorded version. Ultimately, Eighties: A Decade to Remember is easy to forget.
