Before their 1970s disco stardom, or even their late-'60s psych-pop period, the Bee Gees were a teen pop trio in mid-'60s Australia. This collection contains 20 tunes from those days. The material, which has been anthologized under many different names over the years, shows their trademark harmonies already in place, and their uncanny popcraft beginning to find its feet, from the bouncy “Spicks and Specks” (one of their earliest hits) to the haunting “Playdown.” In a few years they'd be conquering the world, but the young brothers Gibb on THE EARLY YEARS were just three kids with stars in their eyes and an innate understanding of the fact that together they could tap into a rich, distinctive musical vein that was not quite like anything else.
