AllMusic Review by

This music from Ken Colyer is much different from what one would expect. Rather than playing New Orleans-style cornet, Colyer is heard as a folk singer and guitarist, reviving older songs such as "Casey Jones," "Go Down, Old Hannah," "Stack-O-Lee Blues," and "This Train." Joined by various rhythm sections (including guitarist Alexis Korner), Colyer performs what would be called "skiffle," a mixture of blues, jug band tunes, country, gospel, and folk music, predating the folk revival by over five years. The music is enjoyable, if not as significant as Colyer's jazz records.
