This unusual date was the first opportunity that veteran trumpeter Red Rodney had to escape from bebop revivalism and play some more modern music. The LP has ten selections, including three group originals, two by Rodney, and numbers by John Kirby ("Windy"), Duke Jordan, Clark Terry, Hoagy Carmichael ("Georgia On My Mind") and Keith Jarrett ("In Your Quiet Place"). Rodney is teamed with five fine Scandinavian players, including tenor saxophonist Bent Jaedig and Hans Fieldsted on electric keyboards. The music ranges from post-bop to light fusion, and it finds Rodney displaying a surprisingly flexible style.
