Cashmere was one of the several '80s R&B groups who could deliver an extension of '70s smooth soul one moment and then turn around and carry the torch for disco with a programming-heavy club track. During the group's three-album career, they hit the Billboard charts a few times but never quite reached the heights of like-minded groups such as Imagination, Shalamar, and Midnight Star. Hot Productions' The Best of Cashmere includes those singles that charted -- "Do It Anyway You Wanna," "Try Your Lovin," "Can I," and "We Need Love" -- and it also gathers nine other songs that wrap up pretty much all of the group's finest album moments. Energetic should've-been-hit-singles like "Fascination," "Keep Me Up," and "Someone Like You" round out the compilation and help make it more than a curiosity for die-hard '80s R&B fanatics.
